Obstacles to employment confound good intentions.

Why are so many people not being hired by companies that are seeking workers but seeing a shortage?

One reason is mask mandates and requiring people to get an experimental injection. Many workers don’t want to do either of these things. Potential workers can’t understand what covid has to do with working because the covid illness was less deadly than a typical flu. Lots of hype surrounded covid and lots of demands. Boiled down to essentials, however, we have a PCR test that produced a lot of false positives that look scary but paired with a normal deathrate in 2020 we can see that covid isn’t as bad as the press has made it appear. Increasingly, health problems and deaths are associated with the experimental injection. There are more than ample reasons for would-be employees and employers to say no to all covid demands. But politics associated with mandates make negotiating in the context of covid harder than it should be.

Another reason why workers may not be signing up for jobs is the crazy logic of lean dynamics in the workplace. When every move is analyzed and specified to the worker, it can be overbearing and no-fun. Work can be enjoyable but working with unreasonable specificities can undermine a job especially when it is already a difficult set of tasks that need talent and determination to do. Lean strategists are happy to take credit for improving efficiencies but they run away when you show them that fewer and fewer workers want to do the lean-ever-leaner strategy. Lean strategies and computer monitoring of productivity with constant pressure to be more productive creates an unpleasant workplace environment. Years after lean strategies were introduced, there are fewer STEM jobs that pay well and fewer qualified people who want to do them. And that’s in an economy that’s supposed to rely heavily on technology!

As well as lean dynamics, there’s the obstacle course of unknown algorithms that represent mysterious requirements for any job that uses them. I have heard that potential job seekers should research key words in order to trigger algorithms. I can’t help thinking that the employer instead of using an algorithm could just communicate better about what will make an employee more likely to succeed. Potential employers aren’t required to show what algorithms do and when they use a screening algorithm, they miss out on an opportunity to communicate constructively with a potential employee. I have also read ads that are overly specific descriptions of what is required in a job, sometimes tailor-made as a comment against the person who last held the position. For example in a recent ad I read: “employees aren’t allowed to complain to customers about working conditions.” I have seen the requirement for a technical writer to negotiate with everyone on staff (all strangers for the applicant) who might need to utilize a writer’s abilities, to ensure that there isn’t any in-fighting over the use of the technical writer’s time. As though a technical writer could keep people on staff from fighting each other and still find time to write. I’ve seen the requirement that an applicant should not apply if they would be injured by workplace ergonomics. Amazing and sort of unbelievable. Perhaps they were simply to avoid making a complaint about an ergonomic problem.

Jobs have something to do with making money. Making money is important in a market economy and businesses working in a market economy use profits and losses to determine what to make more of and what to stop producing when something isn’t profitable. People work because they like to make money so that they can exchange their earnings for valued goods and services. In a financialized economy underwritten with Federal Reserve dollars, the market mostly disappears. Production is replaced with bets on the stock market. With the Federal Reserve ready to save reckless investments, there’s no penalty for malinvestments.

For more than ten years, the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates near zero in the context of relatively high inflation which makes no sense since capital use always costs someone something. Instead of paying savers for the use of their capital to make loans, savers who had money couldn’t make interest on their savings which has hurt people who want to eventually retire. Meanwhile by undergirding risk in the stock market with the Greenspan Put, some people with large loans bet big in derivatives and made huge amounts of money. But almost none of that money produced wealth in the real world outside of capital growth. Nor did it produce jobs. Malinvestments multiplied and wasted capital. Now the economy looks drunk on capital and with nothing to show for it. Workers in today’s economy can’t get jobs that make sense over the long term. With enormous costs in real estate, in education, in healthcare, in automobiles, in energy and instability in the job market they can’t go to work and make it pay to service their debt or save anything for retirement. The stock market is overvalued and well overdue for a correction so investment in a 401k is unlikely to yield anything. Workers can’t plan for the future and if their job doesn’t make sense for the future, it also doesn’t really make sense for the present. Because everyone gets old someday and just getting by isn’t enough for what real life demands of us.

Printing more money and creating an enormous amount of inflation looks on the surface like it would force people to get-a-job-any-job to pay for all the costly-ever-costlier stuff. But it doesn’t make sense to work more when you can’t get ahead no matter how much you work. Especially in a demanding job with no prospects for making enough in the future to pay off past debt or save for the future. No one looks at homelessness today as anything but a perennial problem, but homelessness reflects the externalization of consequences for risks by capital in a destroyed market that has no sensibility. It has harmed millions of people.

So workers see obstacles left right and center. So do would-be employers. The most useful thing to do to help workers get jobs at this point is to stop bothering them with hiring algorithms, lean strategies, covid requirements, zero interest rates, currency overprinting and an undergirded stock market. Just stop. None of these improvements has helped our economy. If you want to compensate people who might be willing and able to work, if you want to encourage them to start working, stop taxing their incomes. Maybe they will start a small business and that will help rebuild our woebegone working world. If you want to support employment, go back to rewarding people for working. Stop taxing and regulating work so much that no one can get around the obstacles.

“Letter from Birmingham Jail” supports resistance to unjust laws.

Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1963 wrote to express his conviction that peaceful demonstration against racial segregation was a moral act. Many of the ideas that he expressed in that essay can help us to see resistance to covid tyrannies as a just act. I am surprised to hear that Canadian authorities want to punish Canadian truckers for demonstrating against covid mandates. What’s going on…

This week was amazing. On TheLastAmericanVagabond.com I saw video about Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum’s sponsorship of the Forum of Young Global Leaders. According to Schwab, these young people have been groomed to fit in with globalist goals and now they reside in key positions in governments around the world. According to Schwab, they all support “the great reset.” I looked at their pictures and thought what handsome and successful people! And yet can it be true that they all support subverting constitutional governments where they serve in nation states around the world in order to push forward a globalist agenda? I’ve been wondering about the coordinated covid lockdowns. If these Forum of Young Global Leaders support “the great reset” are they the people we can hold responsible in part for damage to the world’s economies and perhaps for deaths associated with a lab grown virus and m-rna shot side effects and deaths? I would have to begin by asking them. Would they be proud of their association with “the great reset,” or would they say instead that rumors of their support for it have been exagerrated? Recently, when I imagined that truth would come to dinner, I said that eventually we would know the who-what-where-when-why-how of current events. I was amazed to find a source claiming that the “who” can be found among the Forum of Young Global Leaders. I wonder if that’s true.

On GlobalCovidSummit.org, I heard about a doctor-organized protest at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington at the end of January. The number of attendees who weren’t doctors have been said in various sources to range from 25,000 to 50,000 people. A lot of people went to hear the doctors speak. Doctors were especially strong in their opposition to using an m-rna shot on kids. They also were concerned about side effects not just to people particularly sensitive immediately to the rna shot but also over a longer period. In many sources now, I hear about side effects including fulmonating cancers, cardiovascular system damage and neurological damage from the mrna transcript as well as damage due to the micelle delivery system of those shots and also their preservatives. It appears to be more evident over time that the mrna shot technology was never a successful one because it has no benefit and many harms. As I continue to hope that people who trusted the medical system and took the shot will eventually recover because the shot’s encoded genetic changes may diminish over time (if no booster shots) and not be permanent, I keep hearing that death from all causes is increasing. It seems likely that the covid vaccines are bad and that they should be stopped. People who are experiencing harms should be listened to with compassion at the very least. The doctors who spoke at the rally said that the covid emergency should now be over and that the emergency powers assumed by governments around the world no longer have a basis to continue.

In Canada, there’s a giant trucker protest that is a miles long convoy. Truckers assembled because of the requirement that all truckers get the covid mrna experimental shot. All around the world, people are protesting a continued state of emergency. In our hearts we know that many have suffered unnecessarily because the virus shouldn’t have been grown in a lab in the first place. Yet the many experimental laboratories studying weaponization of virus continue to operate. They should be closed down. Gain of function research should stop everywhere.

On the ChildrensHealthDefense.org site, I read that a number of private big tech partnerships in cooperation with our federal and state governments have been working on developing a “U.S. Vaccine Passport System.” Multiple government agencies have been involved despite reassurances from both the Biden Administration and the CDC that there is no such effort underway at this time. The article I read is written by Michael Nevradakis, Ph.D., “U.S. Developing Vaccine Passport System Using Complex Web of Big Tech Partnerships”, from January 27, 2022. According to him the real goal all along is to control all people in every way while ignoring natural rights to privacy, freedom of movement, freedom of association and other freedoms, while establishing a social credit system.

These sources show that people are in motion. They aren’t complacent and doing nothing. They are looking over at the Forum of Young Global Leaders, and they are looking at the Biden Administration and many state administrations and they are looking at other governments around the world and they are seeking answers to questions about recent events and policies that directly have affected their welfare. We are moving from not knowing to knowing more and more. Who is responsible? What and how has it happened in the way that it is happening? What actions should be taken now to rectify harms being done to so many? How can we prevent similar malfeasance in the future? How can we recover and do better in the future? Marvin Gaye’s song was written during another time of upheaval. In “What’s Going On,” he called for more understanding. I hope we are getting to that greater understanding.

ADDENDUM: According to https://www.theburningplatform.com/2022/01/22/will-these-people-be-charged-with-genocide/, an article of the title listed in the address, at The Burning Platform, said that 16 people connected with the covid restriction rollout and mrna vaccines have been named in a legal filing to defend people in the UK who have been or will be harmed. A 46 page legal filing made to the International Criminal Court on Dec 6, 2021 accused “the dirty 16,” of crimes against humanity and war crimes. The filing claims that mrna vaccines are a strategy to reduce global populations by causing early deaths in people who have received the mrna shots. One of the authors is Dr. Michael Yeadon who was once the VP of Pfizer. He has been speaking against mass m-rna vaccination for some time. Of course the ICC doesn’t have a jail or police to arrest the 16 accused and relies upon nation states to do an arrest. That means that the filing is somewhat symbolic rather than an accusation that will lead to a certain court appearance. Nevertheless, it is concerning that the Nuremburg Code and the Rome Statute are cited in the complaint and that if these 16 people are found guilty of crimes against humanity they will be among the world’s most serious criminals in history.

Ban the covid experimental shot.

NO more vax. According to a growing number of sources, the deathrates and adverse events are much higher than that being reported in VAERS. Military sources (https://www.blacklistednews.com/article/81641/attorneys-reveal-a-300-increase-in-miscarriage-and-cancer-following-covid-vaccines-in-the.html) are reporting much higher adverse events (organ system disorders including cardiovascular system disease, cancers and neurological system disorders) and deathrates for example. Also insurance companies are reporting an elevated deathrate among working age people that is well outside what would be expected for a safe treatment. The VAERS data was already many times more than sufficient to indicate that the vaccine should be prohibited. It isn’t safe and it isnt effective at preventing anything. It is a poison that is harmful to people. End the vax. Do it today.

No more involvement in Ukraine.

The Biden presidency will not be improved by going to war in the Ukraine. He already has a poor performance rating. No one will think better of him for entering the U.S. in a foreign conflict in the Ukraine. We shouldn’t send more troops but instead, we should remove our troops today. Russia has a longstanding interest in the Ukraine which we don’t have. The U.S. should get out now.

Truth will come to dinner.

What is true? Where can anyone go to find out what is true? Is a story we hear only a matter of who pays more to the media to say whatever? As we face conflicting stories in media, as our friends and family adopt whatever story-of-the-moment seems true to their own opinions and sensibilities, we all wait for that dinner meal where truth sits at the table with all of us. Pass the peas or the bread, we will sit in the company of no mysteries when we see whatever has transpired in an uncontroversial way.

It may happen later this year or perhaps next year. I don’t know when exactly. Eventually, the information waterfall of fake news will be over. Dead or alive when that day arrives, eventually those who remain will know the score. Existential fears will end, we’ll stop being afraid of losing our place; we’ll find our place again and stand firm and we’ll face whatever comes with whatever courage we can muster. In the meantime, hold your fears at bay because they can’t help you.

Only the truth after it becomes clear to us, only the move from it towards a better pathway to progress will satisfy us after we know. And this truth won’t come from politicians or from media but from our own lived experiences. We will stand on common ground. Then, we will look over at stolen elections and laboratory designed virus and a longstanding labor blockade, to manipulated stocks and currencies, biowarfare, cyberwarfare, information warfare and various crimes against us and we will recognize that the aggression was both purposeful and harmful. We will eventually know who, what, where, when, how and why it all happened. Then it will be time to start again to rebuild a society that is stable and that respects human dignity.

I know that truth doesn’t automatically banish aggression. But when lies are no longer good camouflage and chaos doesn’t rule the day, powerful people can’t hide anymore from the harms that they have caused. They will no longer hold sway and they will gradually slink into the shadows. At last, the aggressors who have caused so much trouble for so many will be gone or at least silent. In the meantime gather together your own sense of what you value most in life and hold on tight. A reckoning is on the way.

Lost signal.

We see now what happens when government and industry lose the signals that are useful in monitoring their progress and achieving either the end of good governance or good economy.

In the case of our government, the people working in politics need the signals that voters give them in elections to tell them what is needed and what people do and don’t want. Government is supposed to be ethical and monitor people’s happiness. What happens when voting doesn’t determine elections is that an important signal is lost and people acting in government become lost in a jumble of chaotic competing demands with no way to organize what is important and valuable.

Similarly, when markets don’t work because of cash stimulus money overprinting beyond an amount justified by GDP and under persistently low interest rates, money loses it’s representation as a store of value. And markets stop functioning to tell producers what to produce. Without a market, malinvestment without penalty takes over and wastes capital resources. Money blooms past a useful quantity and can no longer achieve what it once could easily do. It can’t be a store of value so people can save money for the future. It can’t pay labor costs to produce goods and services. It can’t buy commodities to build a better future.

When government and industry become the only important power players, ordinary people fail to keep their lives going. As government and industry ignores signals from voters and from markets, they get in the way of the very progress they otherwise would be able to aid. They have lost the signal that tells them which option is better and which options are best for society because they are ignoring the signals that would ordinarily tell them what to do. Their greed has eclipsed their role as legislators, executives or judicial determiners of better government and among the captains of industry deals don’t make important things happen either in the long or even in the short term.

In seeking absolute power the most powerful people ignored the very imputs that guide wise choices. Their power has displaced that of ordinary people who just want to live an ordinary life with its small gradual gains. Now we see stupid decisions being made and stupid arguments being made to defend those stupid choices. Falsified numbers, flimsy arguments, phoney news.

This results in tragedies great and small that are breaking out everywhere like an itchy and painful rash that will bleed out a lot of people and destroy our society.

An insolvent government and banking system careening toward a spectacular crash and burn.

Continuing insistence about innoculating people against their better judgement after thousands have been killed by mrna shots.

Dismissals of military personnel who refuse to get an mrna shot.

Mass innoculations for no clear benefit and substantially indicated harm.

Good will and ill will: telling the difference matters.

Hello out there and welcome to 2022. Have you ever wondered why you have a big brain? One of the reasons is because you have a need to discern the difference between people of goodwill and people of ill will. Human beings are a predatory species and sometimes we prey upon each other while at other times we cooperate and support each other. Humans are thought to evolve faster than some other species because we compete against and with each other.

According to my copy of the Webster’s New World Dictionary, goodwill is a “friendly and benevolent attitude,” or having “a cheerful consent or readiness,” or at the organizational level, the “positive reputation” of a business or group “beyond its tangible assets.” To have ill will is to have “ill intention, an unfriendliness, hatred or dislike.”

Considering the times we are living in, it seems that discerning whether someone has a friendly or unfriendly intention matters a lot. It matters who your friends are. What about organizations? Don’t they also have good will or ill will toward you and others? Look carefully and don’t assume that an organization that says it has your welfare in mind really does.

You can tell the difference between good will and ill will by seeing what comes out of the actions of organizations and individuals. Do they help others or cause harm to them? Will they help you or hurt you? Are they an ally or an enemy? Will they have an impact on your life or are they of little importance to you? How will you affect them? Will you be a helpful influence?

Peaceful snow day.

Today I noticed the media trying to pull us in opposite directions with opposing claims. On one hand, Biden is calling us to be vaccinated or die and on the other hand, others are saying that vaccines cause fatalities and you should not get even one let alone boosters which may kill you. Opposing viewpoints being presented simultaneously can make you feel less able to make a decision. It can be a technique to bamboozle you.

Whoever is making these opposing claims, you don’t have to jump onto their wagon. Although it has been said that people tend to believe either what they most fear or what they most desire, at times like these it may be better to focus on a more natural timeline. An easy choice instead of feeling pulled in two instant-by-instant is to remember time also exists at a geologic or an evolutionary pace. Instead of panicking in the moment, remember the slow pace of gradual change over the span of human evolution. Remember that many illnesses have come and gone and humanity continued trudging along with or without whatever remedies. We will continue. Ignore the carnival-like atmosphere in the media coverage.

Look instead at the natural world. Where I live there is a beautiful snowfall today. It has snowed like this for millions of years. It is a far better kind of snow than the media snow-job.

Solar glitter sparkles.

I live pretty far north of the equator, in Spokane, Washington. In the winter, the sun sits low on the horizon well after dawn. This morning, I looked out the window down the street and rays of sunshine burst out of pink and gold stratified clouds that were sitting on the horizon. The light shone onto planes of glimmering and sparkling flat snowflakes falling out of the trees making air glitter as a soft wind moved them down from pine needles in giant Ponderosas. It was breathtaking and beautiful. You could see the shine all the way down the street from my eyes to the sun. It was great to see that beauty. Beauty in the natural world surrounds us. It can take you by surprise. It can comfort you. It comforts me.

Soon after that I was looking out another window. It was only about 12 degrees outside and a large sparrow with feathers fluffed up to hold warm air next to the sparrow’s skin, was sitting at the top of the dogwood tree. His bold black head faced the sun coming to shine on him, and he sang a song of sun-greeting. He filled me with a sense of hope for the day.

Whatever foolishness has dogged us in 2021, there’s more to being alive than fools and their foolishness. There’s the hope of each new day. We can try to make our lives good by doing good works and appreciating what’s good already. What good work will you do in the new year, 2022?
